CashApp Case Study

Overview

In this assignment, we were asked to redesign the user experience for those who use the Cash App. The focus of this project was not redesigning the interface itself, but rather to take the feedback from our interviews, as well as our other research, and create a more organized and private layout for the users.

Project Stages

Design Goals

The goals of this project were to complete a User Needs Analysis in order to create a better user experience. After conducting the interviews and analyzing feedback, we were tasked with creating low fidelity sketches of what each screen would look like.

My Role

This was a solo project, therefore, I completed it alone. The first part of this project was conducting a User Needs Analysis. Identifying the user was the first thing needed to be done, and it was concluded that college students would be the ones who used the app the most. We were then asked to create personas and scenarios based off of the assumptions made based off of the user base. Next, I needed to conduct interviews with the users. After creating the interview questions, I held short interviews with three different users who matched the user base criteria. Once the interviews were complete, I then analyzed the data gathered and completed the UNA. The second stage of this project was to begin brainstorming and creating sketches based off of the data collected. During the second stage, I created wireframes and flowcharts that detailed how the application worked and how the users would interact with it. I created low fidelity prototypes of the screens. The final step of this project was to create a hand drawn final sketch of the screens after completing the past 4 steps

Final Low-Fidelity Prototype

Key Takeaways

The final outcome of this project helped me better understand the steps that it takes to create low fidelity prototypes based on background research. I learned how to improve upon an already existing knowledge of conducting background research with actual participants in a one on one interview.
